...she was tired and things haven't changed much.

*The 13th brought an impromptu birthday party for a friend. We ended up being one of the first ones to leave, but I guess we just weren't in a party mood.
*We came home that night to a phone call from SIL, letting us know that the BIL and family (wife, son, his son, daughter, and her two daughters) would be driving up from FLA to visit. This was a full month before we expected them.
*Tuesday they totally threw us for a loop by escorting our most seasoned personnel from the building. Seems her use of the internet was less than professional. (What on the surface seemed like a minor infraction on her part, ended with a level of stupid that was incomparable.)
*Immediately upon losing a person we became wicked busy at work. Like we haven't been in years, Darlings. I don't get it. I also don't have time to update, surf the web or keep up with my neighbors on the internet. Sucks.
*Wednesday, we registered the Boy for high school.
*Thursday, the 17th, my Best Buds took me out on the town for my birthday. (Yes, the celebration continues!) We had a nice dinner and then went to the Ark to see The Ditty Bops. If you are unfamiliar, they are a female duo (although they had a guy with them, too) who sing harmonious ditties, reminiscent of the thirties, while playing instruments and doing a kind of performance art/vaudville show. It was fun and something I never would have tried if not for my friends' passion for all music. They were on a cross-country bicycle tour. I highly recommend them if they are in your neck of the woods. (And, of course, I hear them everywhere now.)
*Friday we had BIL and the gang over for dinner. Husband paid me the high compliment of marveling over how low-key I seemed to be under all of the stress. (The BIL are four adults, a two year old, a three year old, and a three month old in total.) I enjoyed meeting my grand nephew (2) and my new grand niece, and seeing the rest of the clan, but we were exhausted by the time we piled them into their truck to go back to SIL's (where they were spending the rest of their visit.
Saturday was work and a trip to the salon for hair and pedicure. The Boy and I went Back To School Shopping, after finding out (suprise, not) that only one of his five pair of long pants fit him. We managed to do quite well before attending the "Family Dinner" at SIL's. (Husband - bless his heart - was away in Toledo with his crew.)
*Sunday, after work, I had a late lunch with one of my favorite people. I can't say that I cared for the restaurant, but I enjoyed the company and received a wonderful new blender as a birthday treat! (Yes, I promise that's the end of my birthday.) How she knew I had been needing another blender (Hubby uses one down in the bar) I don't know, but it's awesome.
*The following week went by just as quickly with only one night where I had nothing planned. My FLA niece brought her daughters here to spend the night once before they left on Saturday and we went back for another "Family Dinner" on Friday at SIL's. ( A side note here : I would have liked to have spent more time with my nephew, who I adore and have seen precious little of since he was an annoying child. His son is adorable, and now knows how to say, " Go, Blue!" and is the proud owner of a U of M tee-shirt.)
Saturday, the 26th, we were off to Toledo with the Best Buds again for dinner and drinking and baseball. I have to admit, I was tired and not in the very best of spirits and Husband got a little too wound about his favorite sports teams who are...well...tanking in the latter days of the season, but all in all, it was a great time. It's a tradition that I love and would like to continue, although I'm not sure how long we can keep making these teenagers suffer through it with us.
*Sunday I put a big red X through on the calendar and refused to let anyone make any plans for the day. I was able to catch up on all of the things I was letting slide whilst festivating. (At least some of them anyway.)

And that catches us up to this week, where I've been working overtime and the Boy has started frickin' high school (Jaysus! Am I old or what?) and I haven't had two minutes to rub together where I didn't feel like just collapsing in a huge heap. I have to remember that as much as I think I love this type of whirling dervish lifestyle, I am physically and emotionally drained by it. I have let my diet and my finances fall by the wayside this month, which only leads to more guilt and more ice cream. My joints ache and my digestion is all screwed up and I gained 10 POUNDS! Besides having to drag the fat pants back out again, it caused my WW leader to question my sanity. (Not really, she just was worried about me. I am, too.)

Okay, so here's the thing. September. September will save me and I will save myself in September. Because in October I'm going to Minnesota and will probably eat my way through the Mall Of America. (Or not. Whatever.)
